Shoreline protection and restoration work is usually landscape and excavation work done within 100 feet of a lake, pond, river or stream to control the erosion of soils into the water, and control the way water runoff enters the water body. It may also include beach construction, dock installation and safe access into the water.
Restoration may include the replacement or repair of retaining walls, planting, re-guarding or any other type of erosion control. The state strictly regulates any work along bodies of water, thru a strict permit process, that if not followed, can result in fines for the property owner as well as the contractor.
